Reece Birtles is Chief Investment Officer for the $1.4 billion Australian equities business of Legg Mason, one of the largest fund managers in the world. Reece heads a team of 12 investment professionals and has portfolio management responsibilities for Legg Mason’s Australian Value and Income strategies.

Reece joined the firm as an equity analyst in the 1995 when it was known as Citigroup. In 2003 he moved to London as a Global Equity Portfolio Manager and Financials Research Head. During this time his team won the S&P Fund Awards 2005 Italy for best performing Global Financials Sector Fund. Before returning to Australia in 2006, Reece was head of European Equities.
